Conducting A Thorough Risk Assessment
A thorough risk assessment is the foundation for all safe work at height. Our team will conduct site visits to identify and assess the risks associated with the work at height activities and take steps to eliminate or control those risks.
This includes considering factors such as the height of the work, location of the work, duration of the project, and the equipment needed. Once the risks are identified, appropriate measures are taken to prevent falls, such as providing suitable fall prevention or protection measures. We do this by installing rope access systems using our IRATA L3 supervision to oversee all works, providing high standards of personal protective equipment and training.
Providing Appropriate Equipment
Providing appropriate equipment is crucial to ensuring work at height safety. Our teams are provided with the very best equipment available for work at height projects. All of our equipment meets the necessary safety standards and is appropriate for the specific task at hand.
Examples of equipment that may be needed for rope access / work at height include full body harnesses, low stretch ropes, temporary anchor systems. The equipment must also be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure that it is safe for use. Inspections must be carried out at intervals no greater than 6 months by trained and competent equipment examiners.
Trained Workers
Training our workers is a vital part of ensuring work at height safety. Our workers are trained to the highest industry standards in how to work safely at height using IRATA techniques. This includes how to use equipment safely, how to identify and avoid hazards, and how to respond in an emergency.
All workscopes are fully planned including detailed Rescue Plans for working at height. Our teams train regularly in how to conduct rescues safely and effectively.
The training should also cover any relevant regulations and guidelines, such as the Work at Height Regulations 2005 in the UK. As employers we also provide regular refresher training to ensure that our workers’ skills and knowledge are up to date.
Implement Safe Work Practices
Implementing safe work practices is another essential aspect of ensuring work at height safety. We must ensure that our workers follow safe work practices such as using the appropriate equipment, following proper procedures, and maintaining good housekeeping.
Our workers carry out continual dynamic risk assessments during our projects and are encouraged take steps to minimise risks. We have a positive safety culture and believe in ensuring everyone involved should go home safe every night.
We believe in doing it right, every time, even when no-one is watching
Ongoing Safety Inspections & Audits
It is important to note that risk assessments and hazard identification should be ongoing processes. As new hazards are identified, measures should be taken to address them.
Regular safety inspections and audits can help ensure that safety protocols are being followed and that workers are adequately protected.
